Orthodontic Care

The goal of braces or invisalign is to correct the positioning of the teeth. This need for straighter teeth is motivated by improving the physical function of the teeth primarily. Aside from the social factors affecting the need and demand for orthodontic care, it is important to state that it is easier to clean and maintain properly aligned teeth. Hence, it is easier to prevent tooth decay, periodontitis, gingival inflammation, and tooth trauma.

Orthodontic treatment helps eliminate unnecessary strain on the teeth, the temporomandibular joint, and the surrounding ligaments and muscles.

The difference between braces and Invisalign is that braces uses brackets, bands, coils and wires to move teeth. While Invisalign uses clear multiple trays to shift teeth to their intended destination.

It is the practitioner and the patient’s unique case and needs that determine the approach to the orthodontic treatment. In some cases a combination of braces and Invisalign would be an ideal treatment.

The Myobrace System is a no-braces approach to straightening your teeth and jaws.

Treatment uses myofunctional orthodontic techniques to address the poor oral habits (known as myofunctional habits) that are the real, underlying causes of crooked teeth and uses light, intermittent forces to align the teeth. Myofunctional orthodontic techniques have been practiced by Orthodontists and Dentists around the world for over 50 years.

This is done through the use of a series of removable dental appliances that are worn for just 1-2 hours each day and overnight while sleeping.

Daily use of the Myobrace combined with regular activities (to improve breathing, muscle function and tongue posture) results in straighter teeth and improved function, leading to optimal facial development and a healthier smile.
